Are you for or against using recruiters?
For many years I was against using recruiters to hire tech talent because I felt it an unnecessary cost to bear, but then when we started getting 1,000 applicants per position I quickly realised that we needed help and the time we spent weeding out CVs was better spent interviewing and so I started to use recruiters.
The key for us was to develop a relationship with one or two recruitment firms that took the time to understand our culture and ambitions and that then went off and did the legwork to find candidates that were a close match. It saved us a lot of time and I'm glad to say that over the years I've still kept in touch with all of the people I've hired through recruiters, oddly, it has not been the same for those that we recruited through LinkedIn or other online channels.
Using recruiters is not for everyone and many of our clients when looking to build their own teams take the time themselves to hunt for candidates and perform all the rounds of interviews and there is nothing wrong with that if you have the time to spend.
