Fractional services have gone mainstream!
This month, I’ve been having more and more conversations with fractional CMOs, CFOs, CCO, CTOs and even fractional legal officers.
It appears that every business function a start-up needs from tech, to finance and even even sales is now available in fractional form: whether that's an hour or day per week, or a few days per month.
Is this a good thing?
I would say yes - but I am biased. However, the concept speaks for itself: having to only pay for what you need as well as benefitting from a fractional's rich expertise without having to commit to a full-time hire makes business sense.
In this month’s stand-out podcast, I talk with Alysha Randall about fractional work and specifically about her work as a fractional CFO. Over on LinkedIn, I've written a series of articles about how to find the right fractional CTO, bearing in mind that not all fractional CTOs are the same, they come in many flavours.
As with any kind of service, the person providing that service has different experiences, strengths and weaknesses and if you are thinking about bringing some part time help in to solve some business issues, you need to do your due diligence!
As mentioned in an article below, the funding landscape is getting tougher, VCs are finally doing more due diligence on their investee companies which means that you as a founder or a business owner are going to have to get your books and documentation in order and this is where someone fractional can really help.
