Welcome to the latest Atom CTO newsletter where we share tech news and stories for founders and entrepreneurs who are starting and scaling businesses.
Editor’s Note
As the ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus observed: “the only constant in life is change”.
As entrepreneurs and business owners we are not meant to be afraid of change but as a friend of mine pointed out to me, business owners are the most risk averse people you’ll find.
At first I thought that was counterintuitive to everything I’ve heard, read and experienced about entrepreneurs and fellow business owners but when you think about it, it is actually true.
When you own a business, you spend a great deal of your time thinking about risks, whether to take them and what impact they will have on your business and rarely do you take blind risks.
In fact, you spend your time trying to avoid those things that will rock the boat too much and create uncertainty.
Change in business is seen to be “bad” but oftentimes necessary, some call it pivoting, some call it restructuring, the name changes depending on what type of change it is but it all boils down to change so the question I asked myself when recording the podcast on change is: why aren’t we talking about it more?
The past 3 or 4 years has seen huge amounts of change in the world and it has impacted all types of businesses but no one seems to be talking about what impact these changes have had on small businesses - yes of course we have the discussions around inflation and the big macro changes but we’re not really talking about the impact on the largest part of our economy - the small business.
We’re aiming to change that and for 2024, we at Atom CTO will be focusing more on SMEs and telling their stories through our podcast, articles and through the work that we do. So if you have something to share and want to highlight how you’ve managed to navigate through the last few years - share what you have learned, then get in touch.
As ever, if you are interested in learning more or have a tech challenge you need to solve, then we are here for you! Email bhairav@atomcto.com
